Our History

The history of the Cerretano winery begins in the early 1900s, when Domenico “Facciabbella” Cerretano began trading wines. On board a “traìno” and armed with patience and passion, he toured Abruzzo proposing the wines of his beloved land. The progenitor handed down this passion to his son Nicolò Giorgio. Marrying Rachele Di Pompo, a peasant woman, Nicolò Giorgio combined the wine trade with the ability of his wife and family to grow grapes.

Thanks to this successful combination, the trade was also accompanied by a small production of wine. The sons Antonio and Domenico, who died prematurely, inherited the skills of both parents, so much so that in the 1960s they founded the Cantina Cerretano and implemented new vineyards. From those years onwards, the production of grapes and wines has experienced a constant and exponential development.

We have taken upon ourselves the responsibility of continuing the path traced by our ancestors and by our father, Antonio. Today, the fourth generation of the Cerretanos continues to manage the family business with passion and honor, keeping the inherited tradition intact.
