A Family Story

The history of the winery Cerretano began in the late nineteenth century, when Domenico ‘Beautiful face’ Cerretano started to trade the wi- nes of his beloved region Abruzzo.
This activity was inherited in the 1920s by his son Nicolò Giorgio who, after marrying the smart and resourceful Rachele, added to it some vineyards, and with it a precious agricultural expertise belonging to his in-laws. In the 1960s, the sons of Nicolò Giorgio and Rachele, Antonio and Domenico (the latter unfortunately died prematurely in 1982), gave new impetus to the Cantina Cerretano, establishing new plants and new vineyards. From that decade, the production of grapes and wines has experienced constant and exponential growth.
We have taken up the challenge to continue to walk along the road indicated by our great-grand father and above all by our father Antonio; today the fourth generation of the Cerretanos proudly and passionately continue to manage the family business, keeping but also innovating, through the introduction of organic and vegan wines, what is now a unique, long-standing tradition in wine making.
